Sims 4 won't start

Hi everyone!

So, I am facing an issue with trying to launch and play Sims 4. I only started having this issue after the infant update. My Sims game refuses to start and I have no idea why! I have removed all my mods and the sneaky script.files that has ended up together with my CC-files, but the issue remains. Therefore I assumed that my CC must be causing the conflict and won't allow my game to start. So after removing my mods, I started splitting my CC into separate folders by 100, so 100 CC went into one folder and the rest into others. After splitting my CC each time, I tested launching the game. The game did start, when I had put back around 300 CC-files into my mods folder. Then when I went on to put back another 100 files, the game didn't launch. Therefore I drew the conclusion that some files in that specific 100 files-folder must be broken. So I started splitting that into half and putting them back one by one. The issue however still remains. I noticed that some blueprint, tray and BPI files snuck their way into my mods folder, so I put those back into the tray folder. Still Sims won't start. I have before tried clearing my localthumbcache and no mods are in Sims 4, only CC. I am relatively new to CC and mods, so it might be some obvious issue causing this, but I have legit sat for hours and troubleshooted - still nothing and it's making me crazy.

Does anyone know what I can do further? Should I just delete all my CC and install them again? The Sims game does start when I remove all my CC, but it just sucks to remove everything, since I really want to play using mods and CC. Plus some CC are functional, considering I have been able to play the game using some CC.

Grateful for any kind of help! I can provide screenshots too of the CC I suspect to be broken, in case someone else is struggling with the same thing.

  • @58x0d82lmqih  Please move the entire Sims 4 folder to the desktop, start the game to create a new folder, enable mods and custom content, and test your mods and cc in the new folder.  This is a bit more thorough than using your old folder.  It can also be more efficient to use the 50/50 method:

Keep in mind that you may have a conflict between two or mods or cc items, which could explain why smaller sets of files might work combining them does not.

If you notice any files being restored to the Sims 4 folder, mods or custom content or otherwise, when you haven't put them back manually, the culprit is probably OneDrive, and fixing that is a separate conversation.  Please let me know if this appears to be an issue.
