KindlyKostas OneDrive is a cloud storage service built into Windows. When allowed, it automatically syncs any data in Documents and a couple other folders, ostensibly so you can access them on any device where you're signed into the same Microsoft account. OneDrive can also remove cloud-synced files from your computer when your C drive is low on storage, the idea being that you can retrieve the data when you need it. You get 5 GB free storage and have to pay after that.
There are two problems with this. One is that it doesn't always work properly. The other is that for users that have enough local storage, it doesn't make sense to pay for more cloud storage once they're over the 5 GB limit, and going over without buying a subscription can make OneDrive lock up and start deleting files, not "intentionally" but because things happen (and it doesn't always work properly). So I always tell people that unless they have a specific reason to use OneDrive, they're better off without it.
Besides, external drives are cheaper than the equivalent cloud storage in the long term, and you can choose what data to sync and when.
