Sims game wont open, EA app just reopens

I was able to play after the most recent update/pack but for some reason, now I cant. I've tried the following:

-Restarting my pc

-ending tasks

-Updating pc

-Clearing ea cache

-Renaming mods and ea folders

-removing mods

-removing sims 4 "game version" and "localthumbcache"

-running as admin

-resetting ea folder

im lost so any help is appreciated.

  • kasiahlopez  I don't see anything either, aside from one error in DirectX 9 mode that may not have caused any actual problems.  It's worth trying to play in DX11 mode again.  If you chose DX9 mode from within the game, delete Options.ini, in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 to undo that setting.  If you've forced DX9 mode in the EA App, remove the -dx9 entry under Sims 4 > Manage > View properties.

If that doesn't help, please create a new admin Windows account and try playing there.  Make it local, as in, don't link it to your Microsoft account or any email address.  You'll be able to (try to) launch the game without reinstalling anything, but your saves won't be available.  That can be addressed later; for now, just let me know whether the game works.

  • lemonade12345650  Thanks for the dxdiag, which shows your laptop's graphics driver is crashing.  So please do a clean uninstall and reinstall of the driver.  Here's how:

Use the newest driver Dell provides for your laptop, the Intel driver found here in the Video category:

I followed this and it still wont open 😓. Thank you for your help though.

  • kasiahlopez  Then please post a new dxdiag.

Please also look for any related errors in the Reliability Monitor.  Hit Windows key-R and enter "perfmon /rel" without quotes, and you'll see a chart of errors and updates with a column for each day.  Today is on the right.

Look for an error that happened at exactly the time of your most recent attempt to open Sims 4, or any attempt after you reinstalled the graphics driver.  If you find one, double-click it to see more details, then copy that info and paste it into a reply here.  If you don't see a new error, check back in an hour or so—the Reliability Monitor doesn't always update right away.
