Do you have any Mods or CC? If so move your Mods folder to the Desktop and delete localthumbcache.package. Then test the game.

If it works now check for updates to your Mods and CC. Add it back a little at a time while testing until you have found all that are broken.

  • Is the folder called localthumbcache.package or just localthumbcache?

  • @2776084245  It more than likely sounds like a broken mod or CC issue, and not a problem with the game itself. Have you made sure to check in all your folders in The Sims 4 folder for mods or cc? Sometimes mods or cc can hide in other folders such as saves without your knowledge, making it more difficult than just removing the mods folder or what is in the mods folder. FOr example I have a Mod that saves it's settings (if that makes sense) in my saves folder so whenever that mod breaks or needs an update I need to delete it from both the mods and saves folder. I made the mistake before by not deleting it out of my saves folder and it actually broke my game before. It has happened to me before so I figured I suggest it. I hope it helps. If not and you are sure you are positive it is not mod or cc related, you will have to contact EA for support and help. https://help.ea.com/en/ or you can contact EA https://help.ea.com/en/contact-us/

@2776084245  If Windows is set to hide file extensions, then localthumbcache.package is displayed as localthumbcache.  It's the same file.

There's no reason to send someone to EA customer support just because this isn't a mod problem.  @jpkarlsen is perfectly capable of troubleshooting a variety of game, Origin, and system issues, as are others here.
