Sims not actually doing the tasks they are cued to do.

I am still testing all of the things my sims cannot do or will not actually do animation wise but I have taken out all mods, reset my sims folder twice, and repaired my game twice trying to play and found that my teen sim will just stand around while showing that they are foraging, doing homework, or sitting, while the action circle shows that the task is currently being complete. My teen sim shows that they are completing their homework while standing completely still. I tested a young adult as well and they will also stand around while the action shows that it is being completed. The searching for frogs task completed, with a frog going into the sims inventory and the log disappearing, while my sim was standing still and the fishing task cancelled each time I cued it up. Is this happening to anyone else?

  • krzyPxnda  Please test a new save, for comparison's sake, still with no mods or custom content.

If the new save is affected, please provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

  • It is still happening, even with a new save. Fishing is cancelling and Homework not being completed as well as being unable to sit.

  • krzyPxnda  Is your game installed on your internal or external drive?  Have you moved the user folder (saves, Tray files, etc.) to the external?  I realize your internal drive is somewhat low on space, so I'm not saying you need to reinstall the game there if it isn't there already, just asking for more information.

For now, please try playing in a clean boot, to eliminate most sources of software conflict:

The one service to leave enabled is the EABackgroundService, which the EA App needs in order to run.  Disable the rest as described.

When you reboot your computer, go through the Task Manager's background processes list shutting down any service that doesn't absolutely need to be running, for example anything from MSI Afterburner to RGB software might still be enabled.  If you accidentally kill a critical process and it doesn't restart on its own, just reboot your computer again.

Don't open anything other than Sims 4 and the EA App while testing, not even a browser window.

If this helps, you can selectively reenable services until you find the culprit, then either leave that disabled or (if it belongs to an app you want to keep using) let me know what it is so we can try to fix the underlying issue.

If it doesn't help, please try again, except with your computer offline.  You can sign into the EA App and put it in offline mode, then disable wifi and/or disconnect the ethernet cable before pressing Play.

  • I am having a similar situation where I que up things for my family to do and they just stand there. I used to be able to assign every sim a task and they'd all do them but now the only sim to do what they are told is the sim I am currently on and most of the time they just stand there. Even after resetting them they just stand in one spot. Occasionally they'll do one or two tasks but it usually takes 3 or more times to que it up for them to actually do anything. All of my mods have been removed and still they just stay where they are. I haven't been playing because it's not fun trying to play with a sim who does nothing. It's very frustrating. I will try all the tips below to see if any of that helps but I have to say for the THOUSANDS of dollars I have spent on this game I am getting pretty sick of it not working. Refund people if you can't get your product to work correctly. And this coming from a loyal fan who is just now complaining and doesn't take stock in the hate videos but since the main mechanic of the game isn't working it's pretty much a useless game now.

Yes I have all of my games on my external to make sure I have plenty of room for them. I will test this as soon as possible!

I also forgot to mention that my user folder is internal.

I have tested it using this method and my game works now. I will go through and start turning services back on and let you know what I find that could be causing this issue.
