Sims won't follow commands

I have recently tried playing the Sims 4 after downloading the new packs and updating the game, but every time i give my sims a command, they simply don't move. Or for example, if i click on the sink and select 'wash hands' command, the animation plays but the sim doesn't walk to the sink instead they stand in the same spot as before. I have tried fixing it in so many different ways but nothing has worked so far. If anyone knows a solution for this, it would be much appreciated!

  • Matea20061  Does this happen in a new save too?  Please test for comparison's sake.  Use fresh sims that you make yourself (nothing from the Gallery or your own library), and place them on a default EA-made lot.

If the new save is affected, please provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

If the new save is fine, try moving the household in your main save to a new lot.  You don't need to save your progress; this is just for testing.

  • Matea20061  First, please update your computer's graphics driver, which is from 2021.  This is the newest driver Intel offers for your processor and graphics chip:

    https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/products/sku/196597/intel-core-i71065g7-processor-8m-cache-up-to-3-90-ghz/downloads.html

Run the installer as an admin: right-click the download and select "Run as administrator."  Restart the laptop after installing the driver.

Your computer's page file is also almost all in use, although it's a reasonable size.  However, the dxdiag crashed while running and is missing the stats about your drive(s), which means I can't see whether it's safe, or even possible, to increase the page file size.  So please open a File Explorer window, click This PC in the left panel, and list the free and total space available on each drive.

The page file issue may be why your game isn't running well because this is where the processor stores data that would normally be in physical memory but doesn't fit.  Since your system only has 8 GB RAM installed, the page file is going to come into play while you're running Sims 4, and if it can't expand to accommodate the system's needs, the result can be lag, bad performance in general, and even crashing.

Finally, let me know what kind of Sims 4 install you have: EA App, Steam, Epic, mixed, or something else.
