Sleep mode in Sims 4

Please also let me know whether you play any other games, and whether this happens both when your laptop is plugged in and when you're running on battery.

@puzzlezaddict The only other game I have played in the last several months is Stardew Valley and it it hasn't happened when I play that. It is happening when my laptop is plugged in and when I am running on battery. I have attached the dxdiag. 

@finelinetracksix  Your dxdiag lists a number of crashes of the graphics driver, or one of them, so the place to start is by updating the Nvidia driver.  You can get the newest driver here:

Run the installer as an admin: right-click the download and select "Run as administrator."  Choose the Custom (not Express) install method, and check the box to perform a clean install.  Restart the computer when you're done and before trying to play.

If this doesn't help, please post a new dxdiag, one run after you've installed the new driver and tested Sims 4.

@puzzlezaddict  I just tested it after installing the new driver and restarting and it went into sleep mode again after about 15 minutes. I have attached a new dxdiag for you. Thank you for helping me with this 🙂

@finelinetracksix  Please do a clean uninstall and reinstall of both graphics drivers.  Here's how:

You can use the Nvidia driver you already downloaded, or the link if you deleted the installer.  For the AMD driver, download the first chipset driver listed here:

The order of operations here is uninstall the Nvidia driver > uninstall the AMD driver > restart > reinstall the AMD driver (it's fine to run the chipset driver installer and skip the non-graphics-related drivers) > restart > install the Nvidia driver > restart, all while offline.

Please also tell Windows to use the Nvidia graphics card for Sims 4.  Open Windows Settings > System > Display > Graphics settings, click Browse, find TS4_x64.exe on the list, and choose the high-performance option.

If all this doesn't help either, please post another new dxdiag.

@puzzlezaddict I did the clean uninstall & reinstall and it still went it to sleep mode while playing after about 5-7 minutes. I have attached a new dxdiag for you. Again, thanks for the help I appreciate it.

The one service to leave enabled is the EABackgroundService, which the EA App needs in order to run.  Disable the rest as described.

When you reboot your computer, go through the Task Manager's background processes list shutting down any service that doesn't absolutely need to be running, for example anything from MSI Afterburner to RGB software might still be enabled.  If you accidentally kill a critical process and it doesn't restart on its own, just reboot your computer again.

Don't open anything other than Sims 4 and the EA App while testing, not even a browser window.

@puzzlezaddict I tried playing in a clean boot and it still went in to sleep mode after a few minutes. When I was going through the Task Manager's background processes list I think I shut down all the non critical things but I am not 100% sure because I haven't done anything like this before

@finelinetracksix  Please change Windows's battery settings (click the battery icon in the lower-right corner of the screen) to maximum performance.  And disable the screen's ability to turn off at all while inactive, under Settings > System > Power & Sleep.  Then test again and let me know what happens.

@puzzlezaddict I can't see where to change the battery to maximum performance, I clicked on the battery and it took me to the settings but I don't see the maximum performance option for battery. I have included an image to show you what I can see under power and battery settings.  I forgot to tell you but I had already turned off the ability to sleep while inactive on Monday,  I have included an image to show you the sleep settings I have my laptop on as well.
