I tried deleting the cc that it wanted, but I realized it just wanted me to keep on. I then removed the mod folder to my desktop so that I could generate a new one, but that method as well as checking "game options"didn't work. I also went into origin and repaired, updated game/origin, uninstalled both game and origin, but alas, nothing has changed. I'd like to say that I recently gotten a new laptop for Windows 10 and I don't have any Spyware software that's blocking anything. I can play my game just fine if I don't touch this txt file, but it's making it impossible to do things. It worked previously for the same laptop, so what gives?

@omgyamisocringe I've moved your post to the PC tech section, since you're running Windows. Why are you trying to edit the resource.cfg file? If an unaltered file works fine, but the edits don't, then the solution is to not edit it at all. If you need a clean file to work with, move the Mods folder to the desktop, delete localthumbcache.package, and open the game; a new one will spawn.

@omgyamisocringe You said you were editing a "txt file".What file are you referring to? What changes are you trying to make?

@PsychotpsDon't touch resource.cfg file as mentioned above! It is not to edit or open now! It has already set three levels for subfolders but you have to remember the scripts mods need the first level.I don't work for EA

@kreatora Just trying to figure out what file they're referring to. They didn't specify. Although the resource.cfg is the only text file in the mods dir that the base game creates. But the user has mods, and mods can use other text files that might crash the game if configured incorrectly.

@kreatora For most users and beginners, I agree. There's rarely any need to modify that file. I wouldn't recommend it either.

@puzzlezaddict I'm trying to edit the file ever since I realized that the cc won't appear until it's dealt with. I've used it previously before through my old laptop and computer, so I was confused on why it's acting different now. And, what is/does localthumbcache.package do?

@Psychotps I've added mods before even deciding to edit the resource.cfg file, but I didn't see them show on CAS or the main menu screen. I would understand if I didn't at first check the script&cc box before restarting my game. First, I left it the way it came, but then I changed the format, but still nothing happened (besides the error I showed).

If you still have the old game folder, delete followings files: ReticulatedSplinesView file and Reticulated Splines file.
Find the same files in your old game folder and paste them in the new folder. After this, you will able to see mods and CC in the main menu screen and CAS. But let the game create a new resource.CFG
Otherwise, you will have to disable mods and play a few minutes in the old safe without mods. Save and exit the game. Only now add mods and enable these options. This should help.

@omgyamisocringeAs long as you don't place ANY mod files or scripts more than ONE folder deep, all of your mods will load just fine.

Keep it simple! If you have Hair CC mods, put them in MODS\HAIR
If you have EYE mods, put them in MODS\EYES
If you have clothing mods, put them in MODS\CLOTHING
Etc...
Keep it simple like that and you'll never have a problem.
Personally, my mods folder has 34 folders in the MODS directory. All my mods are in those 34 folders... all 1,420 of them. Not a single one more than 1 folder deep.
