Spooky stuff pack has installedbut the Sims 4 game says it is still installing

I have just recently brought the new Spooky stuff pack has installed (origin) but the Sims 4 game says it is still installing and I'll get a notification when it is done, and restart the game when it has (I haven't yet, apart from Origin saying it has before I started the game).

I have:
* run as administrator
* checked for updates
* repaired the game.
* Open and closed origin (full exit and log in)
* restarted my PC and the Sims 4 games.
* My Origin and Sims 4 are both online (I can view the gallery etc.).

When all of that failed I uninstalled it and then reinstalled it. This has also failed.

What next? I'd be grateful for any help or ideas.

  • Did you check if your security software maybe blocks the installation process ?

  • Ah So what I did:

    Turned protection off.
    Updated & Repaired.
    Ran the game after both.

    Short of uninstalling all my Sims 4 and its DLC (I don't use MODs) again.
    It didn't work ☹️

    on both occasions of reinstalling (not above) I watched origin both download the game and install it - it even came up with installation complete.

    Thanks tho

  • Hey,

    So I tried deleting the caches however it didn't work ☹️

    I can press play and play the game, that hasn't been an issue. 🙂

    The issue is that the Spooky Stuff Pack has 'installed' but when I load into the game it says it is still installing and I can view the progress on origin etc. etc. and when a notification appears that I need to restart the game. I cant have any of the new content however.
    That's fine. I've had the Sims 4 running in the background for a couple hours.
    Origins 'progress' is nothing, apparently there is nothing to do. i.e. its done.

    If you run the game in the background, the stuff pack can't install. You need to turn it off.

  • I feel like I should clarify:

    I've run the sim's game at full screen
    Ive also run the sims game at windowed mode and minimised aswell.
    [exiting and restarting before each option, and running for periods of times, usually an hour or more]
    Also Ive also tried installing via Origin like I did my others (and had no issues) without sims running and repeated the above.

    I've been trying most things I could think of >_<

    Sorry, I have troubles understanding you (english not being my mother tongue)

    Could you maybe post a picture of the error you're seeing. Might make it more clear.

  • So the left is what origin says ( I hit the play button as seen from spooky stuff), the right hand side is what appears (I never receive a notification.
    Also if you see at the bottom left - origin says its installed.
    I've also re-installed origin and repeated all the above comments.

    Sorry for the grainy photo on the right, my computer would not screenshot it.

  • Hey so I had also noticed a post on the Sims community with a similar problem, and after talking with someone on there they suggests completely resetting the folder rather then deleting the cache. After doing this I repaired & updated all the games it seems to of worked. Thank-you for your help 🙂
