@JewelWing You absolutely should not need to factory reset the PC. It should be possible to find the issue without nearly such a drastic measure.
If you switch the EA App back to English, does it help? What language is Sims 4 installed in, and did you change that too? And what country are you in?
I'm having the same issue, tried every fix in every thread in the last 3 years. Really was hankering to play the Sims 4, EA app gives 201 error with no internet despite stable connection. No VPN, no unused network adaptors. Should not be this hard and invasive to play a game. Seems to break when linked to Steam. Hangs on preparing game and closes. Have repaired, updated, installed and reinstalled EA desktop app. Was prompted to re-enter credentials when I unlinked steam account but after being relinked cannot be unlinked for 6 months. This is beyond a joke. In the end just gave up.
