Stuck on Building lot screen and can't close the window

So I got on Sims 4, went to manage worlds and went to place a pretty large and detailed lot from the gallery. (A lot someone else built). When I put it down, it stayed on the building lot screen for twenty minutes. I couldn't do anything, so I tried closing the window. Nothing. Didn't even say the game wasn't responding, nothing happened when I clicked the X. I could minimize it and stuff, but couldn't close it. I tried closing stopping the game through Steam, it said stopping but just never stopped. Then I closed Steam, reopened it and it said the same thing. I turn off the computer, left for five HOURS. Nothing has changed since then.

By the way,

I DO NOT USE ORIGIN, I USE THE GAME THROUGH STEAM, PLEASE DO NOT SUGGEST DOING ANYTHING THROUGH ORIGIN.

  • I ended up restarting the computer which worked and nothing seems to be wrong with the game either. It was just a tad slow when opening the game. Otherwise it's fine.

  • @FairClarity  I'm glad it worked out (mostly) in the end.  Let us know if you have any more issues.  And from now on, I'd suggest placing any Gallery lots you want to use in a new save first, so you find out whether they're broken without risking damage to your main save.  Many lots broke after the pre-For Rent patch, and some after that.  It's impossible to tell which ones are affected without testing them yourself.
