I left it for 40 minutes then got fed up and went to bed. I'll try repairing the game like the other poster said

Are you using custom content or mods in your game ?
- Turns out it was a problem with custom content. Had to delete all my downloads ☹️
It's usually just something that's causing the error.
You don't need to delete everything.
