Stuck on saving [PC-Steam]

Platform: Window 10 / Steam-PC.
I have all the DLCS except Horse Ranch Expansion Pack, Growing Together Expansion Pack, Greenhouse Haven Kit, Basement Treasures Kit, Grunge Revival Kit, & Book Nook Kit.

I do not know where to put this cause I'm not sure if it's a bug or a problem caused by something I haven't thought of.

So recently this month if I played for a long time, spending all that time in build mode, redecorating the apartment in the City Living - and when I'm finished, I go to save cause that's a lot of things done. I press save and the saving screen appears and that's it. It's constantly there for 20-30 minutes with with a cursor + hour glass. The window is still responding or else my task manager or the window itself will say it's no longer responding. I can't quit through the game at all and have to force quit it through task manager.

Things I tried:

I play shorter periods of time, but found out the saving attempt happens even when I never touch the build mode.
I uninstalled only to install it all over again and verified it through steam. And it still happens.

  • @AratareWolf  Just to be clear, you can't save at all no matter how long you play?  Is OneDrive running on this computer, and if so, does it help to pause syncing before launching Sims 4?  You can find the option by right-clicking the OneDrive (cloud) icon in the lower-right corner of the screen.

Additionally, please let me know whether you use mods or custom content, and if so, whether it helps to remove them.  I'm not saying you can't play without mods and cc, only that it's a useful test.

Yes, no matter how long I play, I'll press esc or the dot button in the corner and press save and it will bring me to the saving screen and it will sit there for the longest, not saving and I'll have to force quit.

I don't have OneDrive, I haven't used it for a long time cause I have other means. The Sims 4 or any games never gave me trouble cause I never really use that feature.
As for mods/custom content, I think I have a few subs from steam workshop. I'll have to check when I get home.

@AratareWolf  If removing mods and custom content doesn't help, please try playing in a clean user folder.  Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop, and when you launch the game, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you moved but temporarily not read by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just start a new save and let me know whether you can save your progress.

If you still can't save, please run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.

I did something today before I could try these out and it seems to fix itself so far.

I saved my household to the gallery and deleted my save and just started a brand new one entirely, using my household. I'm going to wait but for now, saving screen is much quicker. Gonna see how long this lasts.
