The game been crashing.

My game cannot play since the fairy DLC update. Sometimes, I can play the game. But about 3 mins, it **bleep** me out of the game. First, I thought it should be mod issue, so I move out all the mod and tray file. It still doesn't work. Then I try to remove all the game, EA app, and reinstall it.

I try to play with clean, no mod, no CC, just the blank as it should be. And I still can't play. I even can't enter to the main UI.

What's the problems? Can someone could help me find out with it?

    BIOS = Basic input/output system.

Its the System beneath the Operation System that provides basic functionality for a computer.

But you answered my question, if you don't know that, you did not changed the BIOS.

The crashes you experience sometimes occur because some desktop system motherboards don't use Intel's recommended settings, but instead overclock the CPU.
This should however not happen on a laptop computer if no one tweaked BIOS settings.

I know that you already uninstalled the game, but please do it again in this way:

    Please clear your temp files:

    • Press the Windows key and "R" at the same time to open the Run dialog box.
    • Into the new window, type or copy & paste:  "%temp%"  (Without the quotes.) > hit "ENTER"
    • Now your Windows Explorer should have brought you to the "C:\Users\>your user name<\AppData\Local\\Temp" folder. > Delete all files and folders in it.
(If some files or folders can't be deleted, reboot and try again.)

Then: (Make a backup of your save files and other content you don't want to download again first!)

    • Go here and download "Revo Uninstaller. (The freeware version, Portable version works too.)
    • Run "Revo Uninstaller" > TS4.
    • At the end of the main uninstall, Revo will ask you which cleaning method you want to use. > Select "Advance" > Browse.
    • If "Remaining registration content found" is displayed > Select All > Delete > Next
    • When "Remaining Data and Folders" is displayed > Select All > Delete.
    • Restart the PC
    • Install TS4.
    • Test. (Test without any mods or CC)

Have you or anyone else ever changed the BIOS settings for the CPU?
Did you updated the BIOS on this Laptop?

I don't think I have overclocked it on purpose to the game because I didn't know how to do that thing. Only one thing I thought is NVIDIA have a function to the game "optimization".  Then I might push it, but whatever it had optimization or not, it still not working.

I try to your way to do all the uninstall and reinstall things, it still not working. OMZ

  • GREENAIR0103  If you were playing in the new admin Windows account, and you made it local (not connected to your Microsoft account or any email address), then OneDrive wouldn't be able to interfere with the game or any of your data.  So that wouldn't be the issue in the new account.

The error you've posted is not usually related to an antivirus, and antivirus programs usually stop the game from opening in the first place; they don't crash the game after letting it run for a while.

Have you overclocked your processor or graphics card?  Or is there an app you use that overclocks the components for you?  If so, please revert to stock speeds and try again to play.

If that's not the issue, please do a clean uninstall and reinstall of both graphics drivers, as described here:

    https://crinrict.com/blog/2019/02/clean-re-install-of-graphics-drivers-with-display-driver-uninstaller-ddu.html

For now, use the newest drivers Asus provides for your laptop, which you can find here:

    https://rog.asus.com/laptops/rog-strix/rog-strix-g18-2023-series/helpdesk_download/

You can always update the Nvidia driver later, but try this one first.

The proper order of operations is uninstall the Nvidia driver > uninstall the Intel driver > restart > reinstall the Intel driver > restart > reinstall the Nvidia driver > restart, all while your computer is offline.

I'm thinking the OneDrive might not the problem to the OneDrive, because I delete it, and try to run the game. It still doesn't work.

Am I need to try turn off my antivirus to play the game? But I don't understand why it would let me play once or twice, then it forbive me to play the game.

Thank you for your support anyway, at least I could play few hours this time.XD

  • GREENAIR0103  I'm glad to hear that helped.  That means the problem is likely something in your main account, but it's not always easy to figure out what that could be.  It might be OneDrive though, and your new local account won't be connected to OneDrive by definition.

You can use the new account as long as you like.  If the game starts crashing again, that could mean the problem has migrated to the new account, for example an antivirus might let you play once or twice before tampering with permissions.  So let me know how things go.

If and when you're ready to try to fix the problem in the main account, try pausing OneDrive syncing before opening Sims 4.  Right-click the cloud icon in the lower-right corner of the screen (or perhaps hidden in the Tray) to see the option.

  • GREENAIR0103  As a test, please try playing in a new admin Windows account.  Make it local, as in, don't link it to your Microsoft account or any email address.  You'll be able to launch the game without reinstalling it, but any user data you have left won't be available.  That's fine for the purposes of this test.

If you can get far enough to load a new save, please try playing in one of the base game worlds.

If you get another crash, let me know when it happened.  I'd also like to see the associated error from the Reliability Monitor.  Click Windows key-R and enter "perfmon /rel" without quotes, and you'll see a chart of errors and updates with a column for each day.  Today is on the right.

Look for an error that happened at exactly the time of your most recent Sims 4 crash.  If you find one, double-click it to see more details, then copy that info and paste it into a reply here.  If you don't see a new error, check back in an hour or so—the Reliability Monitor doesn't always update right away.
