The game is grayed out

I was playing the game and put it on pause to do something else for a bit. When I came back, the whole screen was greyed out. I can't play in any way, and I've made a lot of progress I'm afraid of losing. I should probably note that the diamond(not sure if that's what it's called) is still rotating
