the sims 4 do I need a special mouse
My mouse is not highligting as it would in any other sims game do I need a special mouse for this version

What do you mean by high lighted ? Do you have a Sims 3 mouse ? That doesn't work with SIms 4. There is a Sims 4 mouse though from Steel Series.
