The sims 4 is laggy on a brand new PC

Hello! I have an issue, I got a new PC like 1 week ago and I was so excited to play the sims knowing that it's finally gonna work well, but I was disappointed to see that it works just as laggy as before. I tried a lot of things on the internet but nothing seems to fix the issue. I tried taking out the mods and clearing the cache files AND MANY MORE THINGS. The only time the game runs smooth is when I set it on laptop mode, but it just ruins the graphics. I really need help, so if you can help me I'd appreciate it very much! I left a DxDiag for information on my PC.

What kind of lag are you experiencing? There is the time lag (where the clock ingame stops) and there is lag where the frames per second (FPS) drop to under 20.

  • @Ssimina  There are several obvious issues with your system.  The first is that while this computer is new to you, its graphics card is older and quite weak for Sims 4.  (The whole system is older, but the processor, memory, and storage should be fine.)  While it shouldn't require laptop mode to work, it's not even anywhere the level of the Nvidia GTX 650 recommended for the base game.

You can and should update its driver though; at least one of the errors in your dxdiag is probably related to the driver.

There are a few crashes of Windows processes, so it's a good idea to run a couple of basic checks of your Windows system files.  Here's how:

    • Hit Windows key-X
    • Choose either “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Command prompt (Administrator),” whichever option is offered
    • Inside the window that appears, copy and paste “DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth” without quotes into the window, and enter
    • The system will start validating soon. If it throws an error, please list it here
    • After it reaches 100%, hit Windows key-X again
    • Again, choose “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Command prompt (Administrator)”
    • Inside the window, copy and paste “sfc /scannow” without quotes into the window, and enter
    • Post the message you receive here

Origin is also crashing, listing a component of the 2013 VC++ runtime (used by both Origin and Sims 4) as the faulting module.  So it's best to uninstall and reinstall both 2013 runtimes and reinstall them.

Hit Windows key-i, choose Apps, and scroll through the list to the Microsift Visual C++ 2013 Redistributables.  Click on both the x86 and x64 versions, and uninstall.  (Don't touch the versions from other years.). You can download new copies directly from Microsoft:

Be sure to install both the x86 and x64 versions, although you don't need the _arm version, which is for a different class of device.

It's a good idea to uninstall Origin "the hard way" and reinstall too, in case Origin is the issue and not the above runtimes.  Clear its cache first, since a couple of files aren't covered by the hard uninstall.

    https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/origin/origin/manually-uninstalling-origin/

After doing all this, or however many steps you want to start with, restart your computer, and see how the game runs.

  • Lag as in the camera movement is very slow, I don't really know how to explain. When I start the game, it's loading really fast, around like 10 seconds, but when I go into a lot to actually play, it starts working so slow and I can barely move, and the graphics are pretty bad too. So i guess it has to do with the frames

@puzzlezaddict I did not get any errors with the first one, and the message I got with the second one was this : "Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.
    PS C:\Windows\system32>"

@Ssimina  It's good that sfc didn't find any issues; hopefully DISM cleaned up everything in its run.  The graphics driver and the Origin issues should be addressed though.  Let me know how the game runs after you install a new driver and reinstall Origin and the VC++ runtimes.

@puzzlezaddict I couldn't install the new driver, it kept saying that it is not compatible with my version of windows and that it could not find any compatible graphic hardware. However after completing the other steps my game worked a lot better than before. But I've decided that I should probably buy a new video card, that way it will make my life a lot easier. Thank you again for everything!
