The Sims 4 on Steam will not open whatsoever.

For some reason, The Sims 4 on Steam just won't open.

When I try to open it, it'll show me the "Preparing Game" popup and it'll open up the EA Game Launcher, but it won't open up The Sims 4. Afterwards, Steam will, for some reason, validate The Sims 4's files. I'm not sure what's going on here at all and I'd really appreciate some help.

I've tried deleting the Electronic Arts folder in my documents, I've tried moving the Sims 4 folder to my desktop, I updated Steam, I've tried uninstalling the game, I've uninstalled and reinstalled the EA App, I've tried using the EA App's "App Recovery" feature, I've even tried downloading The Sims 4 through EA and it just refuses to download. Nothing at all seems to work and I have no clue what to do about it at this point. I'm incredibly frustrated and I just wanna play this game already but nothing is working. Does anyone know what's going on?

  • @DaniJam05  Please try running both the EA App and Steam as an admin: right-click each desktop shortcut and select "Run as administrator."  If that doesn't help, uninstall the EA app with Revo Uninstaller (the free version is fine) and restart your computer, then reinstall it.

If that doesn't help, please run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.

Please also let me know whether you see an error at any point when you're trying to run Sims 4, and if so, either post a screenshot or write out the full text.

Heya, tried doing what you said, The Sims 4 still did not launch. I got my dxdiag txt file though. Fyi throughout all of my attempts of trying to open The Sims 4 I did not get any sort of error message, thought that info would be useful.

@DaniJam05  Please unplug your USB to HDMI adapter, at least for now, restart your computer, and see whether the game works.

If that doesn't help, is Steam itself loading normally?  Your dxdiag lists a few Steam errors, which is unusual, but uninstalling the client would uninstall Sims 4 as well unless you moved it beforehand.  So please don't uninstall Steam unless you move your game library elsewhere, i.e. not in Program Files (x86)\Steam\etc.; or you don't mind reinstalling Sims 4.

By the way, your C drive is critically low on free storage.  So please move whatever you can, at least 15 GB of data, to E.  This can be Sims 4 or backup saves or whatever you want; the important part is to get to 25 GB free on C.
