The sims 4 started crashing on start up, and I don't know how to fix it.
Hey uhh... Not very good at the whole talking thing, but.. My origin launcher still says that there will be an update, on august 18th, at 10:15am.
It's been days.. And when I try to update it manually, it says it's up to date.
My real issue is, ever since then, the sims 4 will not launch on my computer. I don't even know why. I've tried everything I can think of, and looked all around the internet for answers. I don't know if this is the right place to talk about this.. Again, not a very social person.
But, I've uninstalled the sims, and reinstalled it. Then, I tried repairing it with origin. I uninstalled and reinstalled origin, then also tried uninstalling and reinstalling the sims again. I moved the sims 4 to my other harddrive to see if that would for some reason work.
Nothing has helped. All that happens when I try to play, is a black screen for a moment while the game tries to launch, then it immediately closes out. Why is it crashing? Yeah, I played with mods a few months ago. But, I removed them, uninstalled both sims and origin. So, I doubt my past use of mods is the issue...
Can anyone help me? Still trying to get it to work myself. But I'm at a loss. It still works on my other computer (which is a desktop pc running windows 7, while the computer I'm having trouble with is a laptop running windows 10... if that helps)
It really sucks for me. because to have it unable to run on my laptop makes it really inaccessible for me right now. I'm a disabled simmer. Some days I can't go sit at my computer desk to play, because I'm in too much pain. I bought this laptop in the first place so I could still play games on the days that I can't get out of bed.
It worked fine on this system not long ago. I can't think of anything that's been changed or messed with. The only difference is that "On August 18th at about 10.15 am, active game sessions and origin client will close and restart for an automatic update" message that has appeared and stayed on my origin launcher.
I'm legit confused. Any sort of help would be lovely. I just wanna play the sims while I let my body recover. But, apparently, that's too much to ask of it for some reason. I don't even care if I lose all my savefiles, I just want to be able to launch the game again.
@StaticShorty The message about Origin updating is likely unrelated. I saw that a couple days ago, as have others whose games kept working. So you can ignore that, especially since you already uninstalled and reinstalled Origin, which should have taken care of any issues related to the Origin install itself.
Please try disabling Origin in-game: hover over your username, select Application Settings, then the Origin in-game header, and disable the option at the top.
If that doesn't help, please move your entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents\Electronic Arts and onto your desktop. When you launch the game, a clean folder will spawn with no content. Don't add anything to it yet; just see whether you can get far enough to start a new save and play for a bit. You can add your existing saves back later, once the game is working.
If Sims 4 still crashes though, please run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.
