Trees in Riders' Glen (Horse Ranch EP) are 2D

Hello! I am having an issue with the trees in this neighbourhood appearing as 2D images instead of 3D. When I save the game and all assets reload, the trees are 3D for a second and then go back to 2D. I have zero mods installed and included are my in-game settings on my PC. The trees in every other world and neighbourhood are 3D except for this one.

  • I somehow fixed it!! I repaired my game files in EA App after

    1. updating my driver and deleting my configoverride folder with my graphicsrules.sgr file (I don't recommend doing this unless you have similiar issues) and then
    2. reloaded a new save with post-processing off but all other graphics settings on high/very high
    3. After this, the trees are back to normal. Just wanted to put this here in case anyone else may have this problem.

  • fairini  For reference, please provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

Please also let me know whether this happens in a new save, with fresh sims and no content from the Gallery or your own library.  That shouldn't have an effect, but it's easy enough to test.

Hi! Yes, the screenshot included was an image from a completely new save and world. It was like that in my regular save so I opened a new one to see if anything would change. Here is the dxdiag file.

  • fairini  I don't have an AMD GPU to test with, so this isn't a perfect comparison, but I can at least confirm that this doesn't happen all the time.  This screenshot is from an M1 Mac:

Looking more closely at your screenshot, the trees further out appear to be 3D, although it's hard to be sure.  But it makes me wonder if the post-processing setting is at fault here.  I have mine turned off because I don't like how it's applied; please try with yours off as well.

If that doesn't help, please update your graphics driver, which is new enough that it shouldn't be a problem but isn't the newest AMD release.  You can get that here:

    https://www.amd.com/en/support/downloads/drivers.html/processors/ryzen/ryzen-5000-series/amd-ryzen-5-5600g.html

If that doesn't help either, I'll ask around to see whether any other players with AMD GPUs have the same issue.  Off the top of my head, I don't know of anyone else who's playing on AMD integrated graphics and is interested in testing, but I could easily be overlooking someone.

I can tell you right now, based on what I've seen over the years, that one report isn't going to get the attention of anyone from EA, but a few reports might.

Thanks for the quick replies and comparison! I updated my drivers and turned off post-processing, but the trees still remain. And yes the trees on the lot were probably what you saw-- They are 3D but every other tree in the entire town (only Rider's Glen area) are all 2D. I'm not sure what else I could do to fix it, but I'll keep trying and looking for solutions.
