I don't have laptop mode on. I've only ever had it on once and it made my game run really wonky, even when I played on a laptop. I updated my graphics card, removed everything from my mods folder, cleared my cache, repaired the game, made a fresh save and the lighting still isn't fixed. I'm at a complete loss as to why I'm the only one that is having this bug. I swear I didn't change anything with my game or my computer that could have caused this, except install Seasons. Like... I was playing the sims4, and then my mother bought Seasons for me, I installed it, and then the lighting was different. Like.. it was literally the same day, I hadn't done anything. It's the most..mind-boggling bug I have ever experienced
@Ninnifer18 I'm fairly stumped on this too. One thing you might try, since you believe the change happened with Seasons, would be to uninstall the game and then reinstall it only up through the content pre-Seasons and then test to see if the lighting is correct again pre-Seasons. You will probably need to disable automatic game updates from Origin application settings, so that Origin won't automatically install everything. I'm going to move this thread to the technical forum, as I think you may be able to get more help there. I am not really a "techie" when it comes to hardware/application issues and interactions, but there are people there who are.

I was afraid you would suggest this... Honestly.. not only am I terrified of trying this, I also really don't want to deal with Origin's BS.. I don't know how to turn off automatic updates or anything and I don't know how I would even go about installing content individually. I've never uninstalled the sims4, I've only ever done fresh installs on new computers, and it's been awhile since I did that... I'm very concerned about my saves and my files in general. I get told to backup everything all the time but I honestly don't know how to do that either.
As much as it physically pains me to do so, I could try to uninstall the game and reinstall it, but I honestly have no idea how well it would work. In the past, with Sims4 and previous sims games, any time I have ever uninstalled and reinstalled a game, or done a fresh install, my game would always have the exact same bugs.. and a plethora of brand new bugs. I hope I don't sound like I'm just making up excuses to NOT do this, I do want my game to function properly.. but honestly, I have no idea what I'm doing when it comes to these things and I'm scared that if I do go and spend hours doing this, it will all be for nothing. I wish I could just hand this off to someone who is more tech savvy than I am so you (and everyone else) could be working with someone more competent.- kreatora7 years agoHero (Retired)
@Ninnifer18
Maybe try a factory reset of your game folder
Step 1. Rename The Sims4 folder to "The Sims4 old"
Step 2. Fix the game in Origin
Origin/Library - right click on TS4 - option "Repair game"
You have to wait until Origin will fix all packs, not only the base game.
Step 3. Turn on the game - a new game folder will be created and you will have two - one old, one new
Step 4. Check if you still have this problem in the newly created game folder
If the problem disappeared
Step 5. Delete in the new game folder following folders:
"saves" and Tray.
Step 6. Go to "The Sims 4 old" folder and copy - your "saves " folder.
Step. 7, Paste this folder in a newly created game folder.
Step 8. Do the same with Tray folder and TrayDeleteItems file
Step 9. Copy and paste your mods and CC from old mods folder to the new one. First copy the scripts mods every time checking if the game is working properly. If you have a lot of CC try 50/50 method
Step. 10. If all is OK - delete The Sims4 old folder. Now you will have only one game folder working properly.
By the way, reinstalling the game will not spoil anything. Just move the desktop game folder first to be on the safe side.
However, repairing the game on Origin is almost as effective as reinstalling but I think that the problem is related to your graphics card and graphics settings in the game. Did you try to set them differently?Do you use any mods to change the light in the game?
And one more idea - give me a link to some of your house where you used the glass roof already with this error. I will check in my game if it looks the same and has this error.

I will have to have someone more competent than I am to do all that.. I know for a fact that I will break my computer beyond all repair if I try to do this myself.
I can tell you that nothing on my computer or game, graphics wise, has changed before or after I started experiencing the bug. I've downloaded other games and programs, but nothing that should affect sims4. I don't use any mods that affect lighting. I did try Reshade and NoBlu at one point when Sims4 was newer, I think when Get Together was the last pack out, and I couldn't get them to work properly. I would love to give you a link to a house I've built that uses glass roofing but none come to mind.. If you search my ID, Forever-Dreaming18, and search Potters Splay or for lots that are that size, you should find a few. Sorry.. I don't name them anything specific, and I've been having issues finding things on the Gallery lately. Sometimes it recognizes ID's..most of the time it doesn't. I think that's an issue everyone is experiencing though, not just me.
Sorry if I am being frustrating to work with and am speaking gibberish at any point. I'm trying my best to not be a complete incompetent fool..
