I open up the gallery in game and try and access the community portion of the gallery and it tells me it can't go online that there is no internet connection. I have internet, as is evidence by the fact I can post here. Also this problem did not exist before the update today. Before someone asks, no my firewall, antivirus, anti-malware software is not blocking Sims 4. The update borked something.
Is Origin able to go online properly? If it is, exit the Gallery, click on the three plumbobs icon at the top and see if it connects that way. That usually works for me when it does that. Been doingit occasionally for a long time.
If that doesn't work, exit the game, right click it in Origin and choose Repair.
Let that finish then reboot your computer and try it again.
Okay, I tried as I said above connecting via the 3 Plumbobs, that didn't work. I just finished doing the repair and reboot, that didn't work. When I select the community tab in gallery (or 3 plumbobs) it tells me internet connection is required and when I tell it to connect it continues to tell me that it is unable to go online that there is no internet connection. Before the update it didn't do this, afterwards ... which means EA borked something in their update.
No, it doesn't mean EA borked something, it means that you need to do some Basic Connection Troubleshooting. You may also need to Help Origin connect to the Internet.
The Help Origin connect to the internet won't help. Why because Origin itself can connect. It was wanting to download an update to Dragon Age: Origins earlier (something I squashed because Origin updates to DA:O cause problems as my DA:O install was through Steam not Origin). So Origin itself outside of the game works. Its only inside Sims 4 that I have problems and only after yesterdays update.
I also don't see the Basic connection troubleshooting working either, because my connection to the internet really is not the problem especially since Origin can download updates. It's accessing the community tab and the 3 Plumbobs inside the game that are the problem. Both of which worked before yesterdays update.
The three plumbobs IS accessing Origin, the store to be exact. That mean it is connecting to EA servers, the same servers the Gallery needs to use. If you are not willing ot work through the troubleshooting steps, I'm sorry but we're not going to be able to help you get the Gallery or Store working in game. See attached screenshot.
@DarkAmaranth1966 You know you seem not to be getting my problem. It is not that I am unwilling to try your suggestions. It is that I know they are not the solution.
Basic Connection Troubleshooting
Check Router - When Origin can download updates OUTSIDE the game, then Origin itself can connect to the internet.
Check Wireless or Wired Connection - Same as the Check Router, when Origin can download updates OUTSIDE the game, then Origin itself can connect to the internet.
Check Firewall & Antivirus - DIsabled both, Sims 4 INSIDE the game still is unable to go online.
Enable UNP & Enable Nat - This I have not done and don't see a reason for. Why should I have to enable it now, when everything worked before the update? My settings didn't change.
Yes and, I can make my game do just that simply by putting Origin in offline mode. Even when you can log in and see your games in Origin, other parts of it may not be able to connect properly. It has to connect to several different resources to be fully functional in and out of game.
If removing the mods didn't work, connection troubleshooting is all that we can do.
