@jupkmn I've merged your post with the master thread for this issue. It's purely cosmetic in that it has no effect on the game, but if you want to know why it's happening, this thread has an explanation.
I can't remember which update it was, but it was before the lovestruck ep came out. I moved the EA folder from my PC and saved it on an external drive. Then, because I was having issues with Photoshop, I reinstalled Windows 11 and put in a new RTX graphics card and a new power supply.
When the Lovestruck ep was released, I reinstalled the entire Sims 4 game with all of the EP's, but I didn't move the backed-up save game back onto my computer because I play with mods, and they hadn't been updated. But that was when I noticed that the text in the GameVersion.txt file was scrambled up. it reads ⸱〱⸸㈳⸹〱〲
The game version file that I saved on the external drive is also corrupted, so I assume it happened during the update before Lovestruck was released. However, I don't know why the fresh game install didn't fix it.
I updated the game again this morning. I believe the update was on August 3rd, 2024. Can anyone tell me what the correct game version should be? I did reach out to EA over a week ago, but they didn't offer a solution, and I've been swamped with emails asking me to review their support!
Thank you to whoever merged my post. Notepad++ works OK. I had to delete the old Txt file because it wasn't updated after the latest 349 update, but everything is fixed after popping back into the game. Thanks 🙂
