Hi everyone, I'm having this weird issue with my game. Overall my game plays very smoothly, like butter. Specs are i5 7600K 3.80GHz, 1060GTX 6 GB and 16GB of ram. On Windows 10 Home Edition x64. I have all expansions, game packs and stuff packs. However, when playing, sometimes when I'm in live mode, and I go to build mode, it lags terribly (like REALLY terrible). It then goes over to my live mode as well, it's not permanent, as it goes away after a while, but then it comes back fairly early too. I have a video of my problem, see below: As you can see, pretty sluggish (it's normally very fluent in panning the camera) I've literally tried everything. Setting my settings (shadows, as I read that that could help). Removing my mods. Repairing my game. I've even reinstalled my PC. I just cant seem to get around what's causing this. I just don't like this, because I love this game very much (just like all of you) and it's really frustrating to me, as my system meets (and exceeds) the requirements.

I fully uninstalled the game and i did a defrag on my hdd. Now i'm gonna install the base game and try it like that. Then I'll add more and more pack and see if one of them is the culprit.EDIT 1 : I don't have any issue on the base game. Tested multiples houses, even the big ones. Steady 60fps build and live mode. I'm adding more packs now. I'll finish with Eco. EDIT 2: added get famous, FPS it's still steady. No bug yet.EDIT 3: added city living ... the appartement always having the 15 fps issue in build more is alright now. I can't reproduce the bug anymore ... seems like this bug is coming with eco pack then? I'll keep adding more packsEDIT 4: added all packs except eco, still can't see the bug. I'm adding eco now, let's see...EDIT 5: I made a new save with all pack except eco and i couldn't reproduce this bug. I installed eco pack and created a new save and bingo! Same bug back once i hit build mode. So it's definitely a bug coming with the eco pack. It took me the whole night to try it out but glad i found the culprit 🙂 ! Loads of house from others maps are concerned. So far the new map seems stable.I hope the team will notice us and work on a patch asap!

It's worth noting that I have the same thing. When I click the three dots, or any UI thing, the FPS goes back to normal (which is smooth as butter).EDIT: I've also checked how much difference there is in FPS, when my game goes as 'normal' it's between 58.85 and 60 fps (it's locked at 60) When it lags it's between 10-12fps

@puzzlezaddict It's usually when I enter build/buy mode. It'll start to lag REAL bad when there. Usually when I click the three dots (options) menu it goes away. But it comes back often too. So it's very frustrating.My FPS is usually a steady 59/60 (I've capped it to 59).I've put my Dxdiag in my message!

This is exactly what happens to me too, i hit the 3 dots, it goes away, but only when i go from build to live mode, and live to build mode!

I'm having the same/similar issue, currently working to find a solution but no luck yet.Basically everything is smooth as butter but after a little while of playing i'll switch to build/buy and it will drop to what feels like single digit FPS, the funny thing is that opening any of the menu UI elements fixes the FPS - for example clicking the Notifications or camera icon top right or opening the ESC menu. If i go back to live mode it will slow down again until a UI element opens (even a notification appearing seems to fix it).What i've tried so far:- Deleting the entire Sims documents folder and the game bin folders - followed by repairing. Still happens on a clean game.- Playing on another PC - the problem only occurs on my main PC and i couldn't reproduce the problem elsewhere. Elsewhere I do get a bit of lag when switching between modes but it's only for 1-2 seconds which is pretty normal. On my main rig the lag feels the same but doesn't stop.- Updating NVidia drivers with a clean install- Messing around with in-game graphics settingsI'm not home right now so i can't post my dxdiag just yet, but my specs are:- Windows 10 64bit- i7 2600k @ 3.4ghz (OC)- GTX 980TI- 16GB RAM- Creative Labs Sound Blaster X-Fi external sound card- Samsung SSD 850 EVO 250gbSoftware i have running in the BG:- Logitech Gaming Software- Creative Labs Sound Blaster X-Fi Audio software- Spotify- MSI Afterburner- Spyder 3 UtilityI've also monitored my system performance before and after the bug kicks in, basically as soon as the FPS drops my GPU and CPU usage halves, so it's not struggling with anything.I'll continue to test things when i get back home. Something that has been giving me differing results is deleting my household inventory and switching back but it needs more testing before i can say anything conclusive.Edit: Updated some info

@JeanVW Too bad, that would have been an easy fix. Your dxdiag does list a couple of errors related to your graphics driver though. I'm not sure at all that they're related, but it's worth doing a clean uninstall and reinstall to make sure. One of the errors was a BlueScreen, in case you saw it and were wondering what caused it. This method will remove the audio driver, and if you don't choose to install it, you won't get a new copy.

Next, take your computer completely offline—disable wifi and/or pull the ethernet cord—and double-click the DDU.exe. Take note of where the file will land, and click Extract. If it's easier, you can copy the path and then paste it into the address bar in a File Explorer window. Open the folder and then launch Display Driver Uninstaller.exe, and you'll get a message that you're not in Safe Mode. Click OK, then go to Options and enable Safe Mode dialog. Here's a screenshot of what your options should look like; make sure the box in red is checked:

Close options, and the DDU, and then open the DDU.exe again. For launch options, choose "Safe Mode (Recommended)," and then click Reboot to Safe Mode (you'll need your password, so find it before rebooting). Once you login, you'll see this:

In the blue box, choose GPU, then Nvidia if it's not already showing. Then click Clean and Restart (red box).

Once your computer has rebooted, now back in normal mode, run the driver install .exe in custom mode. Select "perform a clean installation" and install ONLY the GPU driver and the PHYSX software.

Reboot again, go back online, and see whether the game works normally. If not, let me know.

@MadPeachyTV Thanks for the dxdiag, and yeah, you're probably not going to be helped by disabling the audio driver. But you might as well try, since you also have both a driver from AMD and one from Realtek. If that doesn't help, try playing in a clean boot:

@puzzlezaddict So I disabled the audio drivers and the problem seemed to persist after around 10 mins. Then I went and played with a clean boot, Disabled all but windows programs, no problems at first, but after around an hour or so, the lag returned as I went into build mode. Again, when i opened the"..." menu, the lag stopped.
Not to sure what to do next.

@MadPeachyTV Thanks for letting me know. It's interesting that the clean boot would help for a while but not permanently. I need to get a second opinion on this; I'll get back to you when I have more ideas, or someone else who knows more than I do will get back to you.

@puzzlezaddict i thought it may have been my razer synapse software, but no, so im totally confused.
Thanks again for the help, I do have a video of the lag, and how it kind of re-sets but it wont let me attach it here in the forum.

Got a few more hours without the bug but unfortunately it came back eventually so i'm scratching the sound driver off my list.
It seems the more i play on Fast Forward the faster the bug occurs.
I just find it very odd that the bug will stop when opening different UI elements, like how does opening the camera control tab affect this? When i want to push through and continue playing i just end up switching between the Notifications tab and Camera control tabs each time i go from build to live mode. To me it sounds like some sort of UI bug but if that were the case surely more people would be experiencing this. Maybe it's a cache thing, though deleting the various cache files doesn't do anything. Back to the drawing board.

@Gummingtons i found the more i fast forwarded, the quicker the bug surfaced as well!
I do agree that its strange the UI seems to reset it, but if it was a UI bug, more ppl would be experiencing it.
