white screen after clicking new game/load game.
It’s been a month or two since i last played and I felt an urge to play again, and rebooted my whole mods folder, meaning everything in it is new/updated as of yesterday.
My game will run entirely fine with minimal lag and will load up to the main menu quite quickly, until I click “load game” or “new game” where it ends up «breaking».
Loading a previous game will take me to the season screen, but then afterwards, the residential worlds screen will be entirely blank besides the text at the top of the screen - this happens even if the previous game was already saved into a plot. Choosing any option from there onwards, such as trying to open the gallery, will just crash the game and i’ll have to force my PC to shut down.
Choosing new game will just send the game to a white screen, i have let that load for hours at a time hoping it’ll work, but i’ve never had any luck and it appears to be infinitely «loading».
The problem isn’t my mods folder, as the game will do this regardless of whether there’s mods in the game or not. All mods & cc are also brand new and up to date.
I run the game in windowed mode, as the game tends to lag a lot more frequently in full screen.
I’ve heard that setting the game to 32 bit instead of 64 bit helps a few people, but i don’t know how to do that since the EA app doesn’t have any sort of drop down menu to change that.
@graceemilyy and @babyhaily4_20 As a test, please try playing in a clean user folder. Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop; if you see an error when trying to move the folder, or it copies instead of moving, stop here and let me know.
Otherwise, when you launch the game, if it launches, a clean folder will spawn with no content. (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you moved but temporarily not read by the game.) Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just let me know whether you can get far enough to start a new save and play in live mode for a bit.
If that doesn't help, please run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.
