Why cant I control my sims?

Okay, so just yesterday (Christmas) I got the Get Famous expansion pack for the Sims 4. I also happen to get the Seasons pack for the Sims 4.

I was so excited that I wanted to install both of them right away, also it was the no disc included version. So there was a code I could just type in for it to start downloading. Both of them downloaded fine. I went to go hit the "Play" button, and everything was running fine. I went to create a new household and when I was done I moved them into a house, except I couldn't control them. The thing where you can see the sims face, wasn't there, also the thing where you can see their moods, get them a job, etc. Also, when I clicked the floor there was no "Go here" button or when I clicked the bed there was no "Go to bed" etc. I also couldn't speed up the game or get a screenshot or anything. 

*Disclaimer* I do have mods and I play the Sims 4 on a pc 

I tried the game without my mods folder and it still did the same thing. Then I went through my mods folder one mod by one mod, it still has the same problem. I also tried repairing my game. Still doesn't work. Also, the only way I can Exit the sims 4 is through task manager. but whenever I would move my mouse over to end the Sims 4 it would go right back to the Sims 4. So now the only way I can get the sims to stop running is to shut down my whole computer!  Please if you know anything I can do It would really help me out. I really want to play the Sims 4 again.

    Move the mods folder to desktop. Delete localthumbcache.package file and fix game in Origin. Check if you still have this problem.
    If game is working properly copy and paste your mods from desktop to new mods folder created by game. Check one by one scripts mods first to find the culprit,
    Check CC also . If you have plenty of CC try 50/50 method.

     @kreatora So I was going to move my mods folder to my desktop but I realized that all of my mods are pdf files. Notice, they weren't all pdf files before.

    Unless you mean that they have been renamed *.pdf instead of *.package then they are NOT pdf files. It just means that you at one time tried to open one of the *.package files with Adobe Reader. It is easy to test. If you doubleclick one of them does it open in Adobe Reader or do you get an error message? My bet would be on the latter.

    @jpkarlsen All of my files end in  .package but they have the appearance of a pdf file. Also when I try to open one of them with Adobe reader it gives me an error message.

    I already told you why that happened. It will not change how the file works

    @ukudreams - As @jpkarlsen says, this won't affect the way the files work, but it can be annoying. If you want to get rid of the pdf look, follow these steps:

    1. Press the Windows key + i to open the settings menu
    2.  Click "Apps"
    3. On the left side, click "Default Apps"
    4. On the bottom of the page, click "Reset" to reset to the Microsoft recommended defaults 

    This will remove the file association you created and reset all of your file associations to their default. The next time you get a box that says "open with...", make sure you clear the checkbox that says to open all files of this type with this program so it doesn't save an association. 

    Now back to your regularly scheduled troubleshooting 🙂

    @kreatora Is moving my mods folder to my desktop the same as taking a copy of it and moving it to my desktop (Clicking on it then dragging it over to my desktop) Cause if not I'm not sure how to move my mods folder to my desktop.

    Don't make copy. Click on it and drag it to desktop. Game will be create a new one.
    Localthumbcache.package file it is a single file in your game folder.
