Why wont Sims open anymore? I feel like I'm taking crazy pills
I had a brand new laptop. Thought I'd start with Sims first. Downloaded and played fine, a few times. Until this past weekend. Friday night, no issues. Saturday morning, will not load. I've tried every possible solution I could find online, including uninstalls and reinstalls of Steam, EA, and Sims. I even tried a factory reset on my computer but NOTHING.
I try to open and it flashes black or white screen then cuts to a blank white window with a loading cursor that will last forever. I have to end task in task manager to get off that screen. OR a white flash window and Sims icon disappears from my taskbar. But is still running according to task manager.
I have zero mods, zero saved games at this point because I deleted everything off my computer and even did the factory reset. I updated my graphics card. I'm baffled. I've spent so many hours trying to figure this out. I'm so frustrated I could cry. WTF is happening.
kehleeboo This is a known issue on newer HP gaming laptops. Here are some known workarounds:
- HELP! The Sims 4 crashes during launch or in the main menu | EA Forums - 12048779
- Game won’t launch | EA Forums - 4992631
- Managed to fix my problem where it crashes during launch after update | EA Forums - 4998584
- Disable the Intel iGPU
- Put the laptop in night mode
None of these works for everyone, but something almost always does, so keep trying the workarounds until you find one that lets you play.
