Will it run? Sims 3/4?
Hi! would this laptop be able to run sims 3 or 4 (one at a time, probably moreso sims 3), alongside 3 or 4 expansion packs? HP Stream 11-ak0517sa 11" Laptop - Intel® Celeron®, 64 GB eMMC overview ...
It might run Sims 3 but will do so poorly. If it runs the Sims 4 it would have to be on lowest settings. Because of the very limited space you may not be able to have both installed at the same time.
If you post your budget and what country, you are in I'm sure someone can come up with a much better option.
I’m in Ireland and my budget would be around 250 at most. Because I would be a casual player (probably a few hours every week), I’d only have 1 installed (with a few packs) and I wouldn’t need it to be the best quality.
That is not much but perhaps @puzzlezaddict will be able to find something for you.
@upsydaisysims Are you willing to buy a used laptop on Ebay? To be honest, buying a new computer for €250 would be wasting your money. Anything in that price range is going to run Sims 3 and 4 very poorly, even on the lowest settings, and might well not run either game at all. And the laptop wouldn't be upgradable either. It's not a question of being a casual player and accepting less-than-ideal performance; the games might constantly freeze and crash and make playing effectively impossible.
And to be precise, Sims 3 is actually the more difficult game to run at the lower end of the spectrum. Sims 4 is as demanding, if not more so, on higher settings, but it will run okay on some lower-end laptops that couldn't handle Sims 3 with more than the first few expansions. But laptops in the €250 range aren't even going to handle Sims 4 well.
So if you're not interested in a used computer, I'd suggest saving up or otherwise waiting until you're comfortable spending more like €400-450. Prices will depend on sales and other factors, but I would fully expect to find a good-enough laptop for both games in that range.
Apologies, I should mention the specific laptop is currently on sale. It was originally 300 euro, which I know is probably still not enough.
thanks everyone anyway!
@upsydaisysims You're right, unfortunately: €300 is still not enough for a laptop that will run Sims 3 and 4. If you're shopping in the future though, please do post back, whether you'd like help finding something suitable or want a second opinion on whatever you've picked out.
