Moving my Sims 4 Folder From OneDrive to Local Downloads

I want to move my Sims 4 folder from onedrive to my computer's local downloads folder because my onedrive is running out of space. I have many mods and I don't want to lose them or the progress that I have made. I know that moving them to somewhere else does not work directly because the game will not update to its new location; however, I do not know how to bypass that without ruining all of my data. Please let me know some options I can use. I also want to preface that I use Steam to run the Sims 4 game, just in case that may interfere with moving my folder.

  • I don't think OneDrive lets you stop syncing a folder inside Documents (like The Sims 4 folder), if your whole Documents folder is in OneDrive. It will just sync everything in Documents.

You could try stopping OneDrive sync for your whole Documents folder, and then keep that Documents folder just for things you want locally, like The Sims 4 saves/mods/tray. Everything else you do want to stay synced you could move to a different folder in OneDrive.

You can Google the instructions from Microsoft on how to go into OneDrive settings, manage backup settings and uncheck Documents. Make sure you copy everything to a backup location before you make any changes, just in case OneDrive does anything silly like deleting the whole Documents folder when you unsync it.
