With dual screen set-up, game window will flicker and freeze computer

When I am in-game and decide to switch between monitors, my game window will flicker white to desktop over and over, not allowing me to do anything except disconnect my second monitor and then the game will resume normally. Also, after resuming my sims will have no skin texture.
