Won't let my sim bake a cake

Testingcheats should give you the option to age a Sim up. Just shift-click on the Sim and choose Trigger Age Transition (after entering the cheat testingcheats true)

For your actual issue: Check if there's something in the oven. If so, try take that out or replace the oven with a new one.

I tried using the cheat but the Trigger Age Transition won't show up :/

I am getting this glitch now too.
Top chef, maxed cooking/baking/gourmet and struggling with cakes and pies but can cook all else.
Nothing in the way.
She stops at the bowl stage.No matter where you put the bowl.
New oven and new counters make no difference and nothing is IN the oven, nor blocking the path.
Exit and re-entering the game does nothing.

I am currently experiencing this problem. I even tried to debug the game and still nothing works.

I did find a workaround for this (Yes I am still getting it too)
When they stop the cooking thing they are doing, drag that thing onto the floor (Another counter has only worked once for me), make sure there's a good square gap all around it and then click to "resume dish".
Seems to be working every time for me...so far

I'm having the same problem. I drag the cake bowl to the floor, to the grass, to other counters but no luck.

I had a similar problem.  Except my sim seemed to be saying "Hey i can't go here something is in the way". So he just put it on the floor and did nothing.

Move it to the middle of another surface or floor and re-try
