I had recently updated Origin when it told me to do so (I don't remember when the last update was), but that shouldn't be the problem as I've since uninstalled/reinstalled Origin. What's even more puzzling is that I know I'm signed into Origin while it's giving me this message. We're not having an other internet issues at home, so I don't believe it's a connectivity problem.
Edited to add the info you asked for: I'm using Windows 10 Home, and I'm from the US.
Another thing that I thought of is that I bought a physical copy of the game. One of my friends that plays the game had bought a digital edition and is not having the problem. I know correlation does not equal causation, but it might be something to think about as we're searching for solutions.
