- logionXSeasoned VanguardYeah, we don't know the details but that doesn't sound good.
I'm not so sure that they would do a subscription model, but we will probably see a store with microtransactions. Maybe we will see "seasons" that other games have and that will be more substantial content like packs like we are used to?
I myself rarely buy microtransactions in games. - AnonymousCan anyone give an example of a game with an active in-game DLC online store that doesn't require you to have a constant internet connection?
- ChadSims2Seasoned NoviceAs long as a subscription service is not involved I can deal with this if they force a monthly fee to play I'm out. From there it will all depend on pricing are they going to start charging $2 an outfit or will it be like it is now with $5 kits $10 stuff packs (RIP) $40 expansions I'd be fine as nothing would be different other than a free base game which would give me $60 extra to buy other stuff.
Hopefully it's priced better than the Sims 3 store. - FriendlySimmersNew TravelerWill need more info since right now there is not much but only time will say as more info on project rene the sims5 is realise

I agree with you 100% Looks like I'll be switching over to Life By You and maybe Paralives if Sims 5 is going to be a subscription based game.
I have a bad feeling that this is going to kill the Sims franchise altogether.... - AncientMuse2Seasoned RookiePermanently online-based gaming, possible monthly subscriptions (bronze/silver/gold memberships?), in-game micro transactions, exclusive membership purchases and perks?
The future does not look good for casual gamers who aren't willing to sell their first-born just to play a game. I see small Indie game creators becoming my new best friends very very soon....
"Hello Paralives and LBY, I'm your newest customer!"
Have no fear folks, many small-sized independent video game developers will step in to fill the gap left behind by these large corporations. They do not have a monopoly over the gaming industry. Standalone games still have a long life ahead of them yet, thanks to all the small innovators and entrepreneurs stepping up their game (pun intended). 'Necessity is the mother of invention', as they say. - AnonymousNo doubt that once Sims 5 Rene is released, EA is going full speed ahead on this game. Choo choo!
No way are they letting Sims 4 cannibalize sales by keeping it alive with new DLC once this drops. I can totally see Sims 5 Rene replacing Sims 4, Sims Mobile, AND Sims Freeplay. They might just brand Sims 5 as "The Sims," dropping the number!
Bad news for those who don't want a hard reset of the franchise.

Many scenarios can play out.
Subscription? :#
Normal DLC Packs? :D
Paying money for individual store items? :#
Easy access to mods and CC? :D - Anonymoushttps://twitter.com/TheSimCommunity/status/1674345907263881216?s=20
Job listing has been pulled for unknown reasons. - RoaringHeightsSeasoned NewcomerI hope to GOD the backlash on twitter (and the forums) makes them reconsider this whole thing.
- AnonymousI don't think free-to-play is inherently bad. It's how they monetize that's going to make the difference.
Why they pulled it? No idea, but it's definitely not because they already extended an offer to someone within 2 days.
1) They found someone internally for the role
2) Major gaming publications like Kotaku have written articles about the free-to-play and even reached out to EA for comment, as per their article. EA letting things cool for a moment
3) They are delaying the job search
