The Sims 1 won't launch – tried everything
The Sims won't launch – the screen flashes, and EA App opens again. I tried clearing the cache in the app and resolving compatibility issues in the game files, but nothing helps.

Doesn't look like they touched the game at all, this is not a remaster but a re-release.
This is a known issue both games have had for a decade on modern computers, the solution is to force the game in windowed mode with the -w -r argument.
As an example,
-w -r1920x1080This games are not worth 60€, considering EA did not even bother to fix the games on modern systems, you guys are buying old games at premium.
