Unable to install the Sims Complete Collection (2005), help please?

Question

So initially I insert disc 1 into the cd drive of course and click the pop up, then allow the installer to pop up. When in the menu I select 'install' of the options.

After this point the menu freezes up and nothing else can be done from what I can tell, other than closing out of it. Wtf

Trying to install on Windows 10, btw.

To install the game, simply browse the CD contents and run setup.exe instead of using the Autorun launcher.

Running the game is more complicated, since the game DRM (SafeDisc) doesn't work on newer operating systems. Here are some more in depth explanations on the issue:
