Game crashes when preteen interacts with dog

When I have my preteen selected and I click on a german shepherd, the game crashes.

It has happened to me every time I tried to do so today.

I think that the fact the preteen is from a really old safefile could be the reason. I got back into the game after a very long break - so long that 5 of my sims (preteen included) have no surname and the game gets a bit confused about it sometimes. But no other sims cause any issues with the dog.
