How to remove one room?
I want to remove a single room, but it is not letting me. Do I have to destroy the whole house? Or do I need to reach a certain level to be able to remove just one room?

Depends on the room
Some rooms in ready-made templates, that you earn in events can not be deleted
A room with another room, balcony. mezzanine ontop may not be removed without removing the thing ontop of it
Easiest is just to empty out the room or resize it
