I believe the delivery guy counts as a VIP, so even if you don't want to do the event, help him out

Tried out the SimTown Market dude, no dice. Helped all four of his tasks and it did not count as an Important Sim. Any other tips? Thanks in advance!!

it was such a grind that I didn't/don't want to open a new professional workplace yet
General tips for professional work places
Have 4 sims employed at the work place, two working on badges, two (or more) that does not
Only use one specialized sim at a time - the one working on badges, paired with one that does not have a badge to earn
You'll get the longer tasks for only the specialized sim on the shift, not for other specialized rooms
Having two sims on hours long tasks is not fun, it's enough if one of them is tied up for that long
Do not let specialized tasks hang around after a shift is done, unless you're certain that your specialized sim will be doing the next shift too
You can do the specialized part of the person you're helping and leave it at that
You can let a person hang around after the shift, with partially filled circle to help finish the next shift
If you need VIPs, you can let a VIP be partially done to get at least one for the next shift
Do some shifts with only the none-specialized sims to build up resources, trade and upgrade
I did this a lot when I got too frustrated with the badges
Now that I'm done, I still only send the non-specialized sims on active shifts
Good luck, you'll get it sooner or later but it will seem like forever
