Sometimes when in Sandy Suburbs, I’m not able to leave. The toggle to go back to the main town/island doesn’t respond. Tapping on a Sim doesn’t respond either. The only way to fix it is by closing out the game. This doesn’t happen all the time but often enough for me to bring it to EAs attention.

Thanks for reporting the bug. I have a quick suggestion, as this bug affected me personally as well.
If you are building in Sandy Suburbs or working on a quest there, do not leave the neighborhood while your Sim is still completing tasks. Switching from Sim Town to Sandy Suburbs seems to trigger this bug.
Stay in Sandy Suburbs and complete all your actions before returning to Sim Town. I hope this helps!
