This isn't a bug, unfortunately, it's a feature of the new update. The only way to grow things now is to go to the new Community Market lot, where you grow specific items to fulfil customer orders. It's very boring, and you won't be able earn as much as you used to from gardening at home, as you can only have a maximum of 10 Sims growing stuff.
If it's any consolation though, this update has caused a whole load of other bugs to occur elsewhere in the game, which will give you endless hours of frustration.
Enjoy!

You have to go to the supermarket in the Sims town. Buy plots to plant and fulfill orders.

It took about 4 million and I can't plant anything since the update and connecting my account to EA.
