Tutorial buy a garden patch not working

I am going through the tutorial, but I am getting stuck at the "buy a garden patch" task. I've tried buying several of them, planting things, and reinstalling the game. It keeps showing me how to go and buy a garden patch and won't move on to the next task. Can anyone help me?
