Missing Daughter

My sim’s daughter is missing from the household. She is the child of two of my playable sims, and is still in the family portrait. If I open the menu and click socialise, she never comes. If I click on an object (say the sofa) and select “chat with...”, I am able to pick her, and my sim goes through the actions but without her actually being there. If I click a party object though (e.g. the dance floor) and select “groove with...” she doesn’t appear to be selected. I’ve also gone through the whole map looking for her (in case she’s walking around) but still can’t find her.
