Technical Inquiry re: Facebook Account and Synced TSM Progress

I sent a question to EA Help because I couldn’t find the answer online, and they told me they didn’t know the answer and sent me to EA AHQ.

My question is this.

I have recently started using a different Facebook account than the one currently synced to my TSM game. (And hope to delete my current FB account in the near future).

I’m assuming that if I disconnect the FB account that is currently synced to TSM, then I can then sync my game to my new Facebook account.

However, should I ever encounter any problems in the game and need a roll back or assistance with my game, will switching FB accounts mess anything up? Are all my game saves and progress from the past 1.6 year associated with my current FB account, and will it all be lost if disconnect and sync to my newer FB account?

  • Hi @simmerdownMAL

We wouldn’t advise unlinking from Facebook at all if I’m being honest.
It may restore progress from another save game if you ever used that Facebook account for The Sims Mobile before or it may prompt you to start a new save game or continue with existing game. There is a chance here to select the wrong option and mistakes happen.

So, with that said, I can suggest some steps but given the nature of this I cannot guarantee the results. If you’d still like to give it a go please first make sure to link your TSM saves to your EA account as a back-up. I’ll pop an image below under the spoiler tag for anyone who'd like to see where that option to back-up their saves to their EA account is.

Once you’ve made the back-up to your EA account, then and only then, unlink Facebook from TSM inside the game. After this check also the ‘Apps and Websites’ tab in settings on Facebook. Locate TSM and delete/remove if its still there. With it removed from there you should be able to link your TSM account up to a new Facebook account (see spoiler tag above for learn where to find that option).

I’m not sure if that will carry over your game saves however and is why I'm recommending you to link your game to your EA account before carrying those steps out.

  • I'd assume your old game would stay on your old account information. And anything new you'd do would move over to the new account. I'm not sure how far back the backups go, so maybe your old account would become obsolete at some point for the backups of the game.
I'd suggest connecting your EA account before switching so you have a back up if it would fail though.

  • @EA_Lanna Thank you. You’ve given me much to think about. I mainly wanted to switch the FB account on my TSM game so that I can be synced to my gamer FB account and linked to several TSM friends within the game. But since that really doesn’t serve an in-game purpose other than seeing their profile pictures, then I suppose chancing it isn’t worth it.

If I ever do decide to make the switch to my new FB account, then I’ll refer to this thread. Thank you for the instructions.
