So, I'm new at this and not sure what it means to socialize with friends for the event? Is that a social media thing?

No, just tap on a friend and the top interaction you can do with them is for the event. Do this 5 times and you do the first stage of the quest. I have no idea why the first time I tried this it dumped me into a 4 hour event, but c'EAst la vie, right?

      So I "accidentally" finished one of the events- can't do it again for another 19 hours... Now it is one of the quest events. How come it cannot recognize I did it already? I'd have to pay 77 sim dollars to be able to do it again right now.
