I haven't played Freeplay that much. The Sims Mobile is mainly based on progressing in stories and completing them.
It also has a family system, so you have a legacy.
The Sims Mobile is based on completing stories and collecting Heirlooms, from what I've seen.
This may be something that is expanded upon in the future, but for now, I think we'll have to wait to find out.

I played Sims Freeplay A LOT when it first came out. In fact, I played it all the way up until they introduced the Grim Reaper, who randomly started killing my Sims. That was when I quit. Hours and hours spent leveling up my Sims and I didn't get a choice to "retire" anyone -- they were just killed. I hated it.
At least in this game we get the option to retire people.
But I miss creating houses! And having a second floor. And not needing Sims *Cash* to buy the higher-level decorations. I miss having a max level of Sims to play with, each in their own house and having families. Right now I only have two Sims to play with, and their daughter and son hang around the house because I'm nowhere near close enough to retire them yet.
Freeplay had more freedom to design, which is my favorite aspect of the game. But at least in this one they're not randomly killing my Sims!

That was my favorite part too...designing the homes and creating the families. I do have to correct my original post because we can have 4 playable Sims in this game. What is strange is that they all live in the same house and they all show in the family portrait including the son that just hangs around the house. It's more like a commune! 😉
