The old forum made it easy to see when new topics or posts were made without having to click into every area - I don't see that here which is bit of a downgrage - I thought this was supposed to be better 😉

In my view, the AHQ format is setup to provide answers to questions and not as a general forum.
We're trying to make it do things it wasn't designed to do and therefore it does it badly or not at all. I agree, looking for "Unanswered questions" only provides a partial solution. I've not found a way to find the 'Most Recent Topics' (or posts) yet.

The most recent threads are rotated to the top of the list where the age of the post is listed along with who posted it.
If you click on the post timestamp you are navigated to the actual post.

you can simply check each category if something new was posted. AHQ should also automatically send out email notifications as soon as someone answers on a thread you are following or have posted in before. (You can disable that in the settings if you want, by the way)
Otherwise, with the search function you can also filter for new threads without replies:

Unfortunately, it's not possible to use the search without a keyword but if you still want an overall overview you can search for common words like "a" or "the" that should basically give you the same results.
