Nasty game bug....The craziest thing happened..

The craziest thing happened ... After finally getting all my defense units up to level 65, they disappeared into thin air:

I destroyed a few bases, and when a player retaliated and attacked me, I wondered why he managed to destroy my base it so easily. When watching battle replay I was shocked to see I have zero defense.

I just placed my main base back on the map and defenses are clearly there...????

Problem identified. They changed it a while ago to require you to have a Def HQ equal or higher than your highest def unit. Any greater than your def HQ will not be operational.

Definitely so, but the problem here is, how easily can a player return a level 65 building after he sold it? I was hoping that @BlitzKriegThV would come out easy on this, but chances are his base would remain without a defense for weeks, That is unless he sold some of his harvesters and power plants in that base without the DF in it. Its like stripping a sheep off its wool during the winter and letting it grow messily on the summer... a long and agonizing struggle.
  • Selling some level 65 def that require tib and returning them to level 64 or 63 will help plus selling the power at 65 and harvesters (if he has any) should release close to enough. If not then he'll need to .....

No - I'm sure if he's played long enough I don't need to tell him how to generate enough Tib and power to replace the def hq at the highest possible level!
  • Well, I'm sure he knows what to do. The tiberium part may be easily, the power, he might run out before he can reach 65. For now, his best bet is to move that base some place where he won't be attacked. For extra support, calibrate all his other base's support power to that defenseless base. Its not a good idea to sell major buildings like DF, CC or even the D HQ. Also, I think accidentally swapped D HQ with DF... I sometimes don't have common sense. I'm out, its up to @BlitzKriegThV to decide if he wants this topic closed.
  • Several players have carried out an action similar to the one mentioned, "raise all the defense to the maximum and sell the buildings to improve others".

As has been repeatedly warned in this forum, in the announcement of the version that introduced that change and in several YouTube videos, for a long time (years?) you need to have defensive buildings to have defense. If you create the defense and do not have the defensive buildings, the defense units will flee as soon as the base is attacked, leaving them completely defenseless.

    1) We must not assure that it is a failure of the game if we do not know the rules of the game and, therefore, it is not a failure
    2) No, I am not happy when a player loses the effectiveness of his defense
    3) Yes, to use the defense again you have to have the buildings at maximum capacity again (and that is your responsibility)

    * Another typical mistake is to create level 65 attack units and then sell the command center, so you can never attack even if you have your attack units at the highest level.

Note: Perhaps it would be interesting if a poster appeared when the player asked for the sale of an important building indicating the consequences (the truth is that I don't know if they already appear because I don't sell those important buildings).

    · If you sell a defensive structure: "Your defense will disappear and will not be effective until you have the buildings at the appropriate level"
    · If you sell the airfield: "Your air attack units will not participate in the attack and will not be effective until you have the buildings at the appropriate level"
    · If you sell the factory: "Your ground attack vehicles will not participate in the attack and will not be effective until you have the buildings at the appropriate level"
    ... and so on
  • @gamerdruid Do you remember if this alerts of loss effectivity of units appears in the game when you sale an important building?

    Edited:
Or maybe we can put this information in a thread of suggestions. :-?
  • Perhaps EA could change the defense items' icon to have red slash / cross through them - indicating that they're inactive ...

You mean like this  http://prntscr.com/tf7kda with no Def HQ

    or this http://prntscr.com/tf7lag

with a Def HQ of 50 but some units at 51?

The system doesn't alert you when you sell buildings of any kind, harvester, silo or command centre.
  • hehehe i wonder how many more players will get caught out this way ;-)
As a player that loves PvP i never sell them.
