A thought about all of these premium stand-alone buildings

I don't know how many others have the same attitude about them as I do, but as much as I am temped to buy them and complete my magic campus, I feel that they are not worth the donuts. They pay IGC (albeit at a premium rate) the same as so many other buildings I have gotten for "free" and buildings that come with characters. They don't come with anything really exclusively "premium" like a bonus percentage or anything like that.

If EA offered more of an incentive, like, say, the premium stand alone building drops a donut after a specified time period (a day, three days, a week), would you be more inclined to make the purchase?

The incentive (if you can call it that) is that fewer and fewer buildings that pay out are given away for free or earned on a prize track anymore (just look at this event's free building to donut building ratio). The further along in the game you get the more lopsided it becomes. Eventually, if you wish to continue the town-building aspect of the game in earnest, premium buildings will become your primary avenue of addition. So really, no incentive is necessary because sooner or later it will be all there is.

Two different opinions, yet neither conflicting each other, that is true discussion.

    Simple.

It's not targeted for you, honestly if they added something as simple as a % bonus 0.5-1% I'd be inclined to purchase. Much like the wailing wall, double use is an inviting concept.

However as it stands, the current buildings offered (non-event generating) offered for donuts, are targeted towards new players.

It's been discussed at length, and when you think about it, low construction time, premium pay, etc. To us those that generate millions a day a couple hundred is nothing, to one who generates a couple thousand, a couple hundred will help towards buying the next character.

Then we have collectors, and completionists, they though may start dying off unless item restrictions are raised, why purchase an item when you can't even place it?

Finally you have RP, role-play, you won't find them too often, but you will notice some people go for a theme or certain look, these items, these buildings do come in handy. However in the end, the target audience is those who want to buy, an experienced Shopper is more discerning.

I wouldn't blame EA as much as question their tastes, at some point it becomes a question as to why cater to Tazerface fans when Baby Groot is where it's at? (These buildings are way lame)

I guess maybe the final part of your post could be my issue with it. I'm just not thrilled enough with the premium buildings as they are to want to shell out the premium currency for them. I can't say that I don't appreciate the fact that the main buildings are the ones from the prize track or the free ones that introduce the event but if you're offering buildings as premiums there should be something more to it.

    LOL Tazerface...
  • For me it varies from event to event. I want to build a magic campus from this event, so I am buying up the buildings. Some are not great, but the prices are not as bad as some events. It helps having reached a level of multiplier that I can generate enough donuts to do this. I do find that I hesitate to buy anything that does not have multiplier, or come with a character, excepting things like the Bad Dream House which just looks so cool when lit up.
I agree we get next to nothing that generates income free anymore, that seemed to stop when spooky house farms appeared and EA realized we were crafting tons of income generators.
I don't think the scale, colours, lack of quality control etc on standalones will ever get fixed, we can't get the street sweeper off the dirt. I find now I have to decide early in an event if I like the theme or not, and if I do I bite the bullet and spend.

Well my issue is the generic look (at least this event), it's very lame. Premium buildings are Premium buildings, an incentive helps them sell better, but EA doesn't want to help them sell better.

However, then you have buildings like the Bad Dream House. Classic, has an animation which is awesome, not an bonus attached but still a must buy.

The item they have released recently are lackluster, dull, uninspired, etc. When we boil down to it, this is the reason I enjoy @Deadshot_DCU posts, they have a variety of items that people would want, and a discussion often follows it.

As it is, you couldn't pay me to take the Black Magic building, it's so lame, so poser, so blegh.

But hey if someone likes it, you do you. Maybe I lack visions (emo visions, I kid of course, not the goat kind, but you get the deal).

I completely agree.in this event I’m finding the premium buildings really lacking in great design. I wanted to buy some of the offerings but they are all so generic, my friend and I have discussed this and we decided the buildings need signage otherwise it could be any other building in any other game. I don’t mind spending donuts even with no multiplier and no character if I like the look of the building .
  • I'm not too picky really. If its there I usually get it. Not too many things I pass on. I've been picky before though. Like purposely passing an entire act during the music event. I didn't even play the game at all during the 'rap' act on purpose because of the garbage it had. Didn't even bother with the game at that point. So I would gladly pass on things that look dumb or ridiculous....like that big speaker....I don't even have that either......buildings from this event? Yes a must have for me. The gothic old style look is what I love. They were a no brainer for me. Just from the way they look is what I look for. I could care less if a character is with it or not. Although I also agree about them not paying event currency....they use to give us buildings in the past that did that.....not too much this time though. :/
