At first I thought it was tedious and silly, making us wait so long for tiles, but after building for almost two weeks now I feel like the progression is just fine. I suppose it's because I still have plenty of land to buy and open land to develop, but the Squidport is secondary to me at this point.
I agree...I've maxed out in the regular game progression, and this is something to keep people working towards something. I feel like it needs to be sort of a secondary interest, otherwise yeah, the slowness is annoying. I'm enjoying a bit of downtime, earning funds, and REDECORATING. I haven't really done so since Christmas, so it's massively needed, and I'm enjoying taking my time with the whole thing. I do think that the Squidport building tasks come a bit too soon (would be nice if they were triggered when you had the requisite tile amount), as I hate having uncompleted tasks in my task bar, but whatever.
It's a nice break after the craziness that was WD (though I do think this should only take 3 months to get us through summer, not a whole year...going to be weird placing boardwalk tiles on frozen ice in December!)caprici424 wrote:

My thoughts exactly. I get to run around and enjoy Summer fun without logging in consecutively :D :D- It isn't a race. It's to add to the longevity of the game. Some people who are complaining the game is now poor due to the Squidport update need to wind their neck's in. The worst thing is, if this update had been completed in a week and another update was far off, you'd be sat here moaning about how it's boring and nothing to do. At least they've made it to last. Either stop playing or be quiet about how long it takes. Please.

Amen brother, couldn't have said it better myslef.- Jeez - I don't speed up the game, and understand the concept completly. I think it is 100% okay to voice a criticism now and again. WD was tedious for it attention it needed, and Squidport is tedious for the length of time. I like the "normal" pace of the game. The last two have been extreme at both ends.
- It's never going to be completely deserted as long as the Captain has his 8 hour task there. I use 8 hr tasks each night, so atleast he will visit the Squidport frequently. But unless EA adds permanent tasks to the regular characters in Squidport, it will mostly be deserted when it's finished.
- Bear in mind this update is for those who are level 15 to work on while building their town. My daughter is level 11 and she will have no chance of completing it as fast as I can at max level, she just doesn't have the disposable dollars that I do.
If you want fast paced action then this game is not for you, maybe try Call Of Doody instead. - stevieortNew Spectator

I don't think this is meant to be completed over night or in a week, it's an expansion like land so it will take time to finish.
Agreed. While I sped up a few tiles in the beginning, I'm now pretty zen about the 48-hour tiles. I've been building my Squidport symmetrically and really like the way it looks, even at this relatively "young" stage. In the meantime, I've enjoyed looking at the various designs of those that did speed things up, which has given me a ton of ideas of what mine might ultimately look like when all is said and done. Which will be sometime in October, at this rate, and I'm okay with that. - Correct me if I'm crazy, but I just assumed this was supposed to take the summer. With smaller updates in the mean time. The whole point of the game is to create a cool looking town to give your friends something cool to visit. I'm tired of seeing town after town of house farms and no designs. That's not the point of the game!

I don't hate it, but this is making the game feel more like a chore. After Whacking Day, and the complete grind it was, I was hoping to return to normal progression for a while. This update is taking the grind from a frenzy to low simmer grind. I don't know which is more annoying, for a lack of a better word. I've been playing since early Sept and it's been a good run, but I honestly don't know how much longer I can make it.
Yeah, it does seem like we are going from one extreme to the other. I also agree with those who think it will be just a wee bit strange (and boring by that time) to be adding tiles during the Christmas update. This really should have been timed to complete around the Halloween update. I'm not ADHD, but I'm also not particularly inclined to do the equivalent of watching paint take 8,760 hours to dry.
Incidentally, I wonder how many Norweigans are players of the game. I understand that incredibly boring long-paced shows (like 18 hours of swimming salmon) are popular there now....
