Compass points

I definitely have unfinished fencing etc.... Since it's not seen.

Yes, I like 360 in the other games I have it in. I would rather have other fixes with this game before adding things like this that would make some of their current technical issues worse.

It's extremely hard to build a town where all buildings face only two directions. I don't buy the whole "would double the size of the game" argument, how would adding additional code double it up if it is slight changed.

    Each object without animation is either a single image file that can be mirrored, like a fence or wall;
OR two different images, like a building that has a different left vs. right side, like the Pimento Grove or KB.

If you wanted to see the back of that 3 sided building, you would need two more images as part of that buildings file. I am approximating that a file with two images, that gets two more added, would be about twice the size.

Do you know something about graphics files that would overcome this? Please explain.

But I've seen a lot of really nice towns. It doesn't look extremely hard to me. I don't remember it being extremely hard when I did my town. Does my town look bad? I have a whole neighborhood of homes which present a rear side. I do remember WORKING HARD to get it the way I wanted it. But it wasn't hard to do, it just took patience.

I accepted it as part of the challenge of working with what you have. I think it's more fun when something I've designed comes out looking great, especially under the constraints of the game.

On building that would be amazing! Imagine all the space we coud save if we could
    turn the buildings 360 degrees.

I don't get why you'd want to be looking at the back of a building though?

It would be useful with houses so that the front could face the street and the back of the house could face the back of the house behind it (ie as in many real life neighbourhoods, such as my own - I live on Street A and my backyard abuts the backyard of a house on Street B). This way you could build nice looking 'realistic' neighbourhoods but with fewer roads.
It would also be useful with a few (not many) decorations, particularly benches. I've got a few areas where I'd really like to have pairs of benches facing each other.
  • Don't really think it's necessary to have 360 rotation. You can get pretty creative with the items that exist as they currently are...

    You mean like this?

I DO wish they'd implement this for a few small features, like the benches.

Fences are already 360. But I'd love cars and benches to be as well. Cars would be a very small image increase, but would then be able to watch the drive in movies. Also, if the vehicles can't turn around, any right turn would eventually put them right in the ocean off the Oregon coast, unless they just continued parallel to the shore. Benches would also require any character who sits on a bench (or heck, lawn chairs and whatnot) to have new angles/animations to be implemented. It would be great to see Grampa feed the birds from behind. Or... Dolphin Starbeam loitering with an adult magazine ;) (his hair could perfectly obscure the salient 'points.' )

But if EA can continue adding new characters/skins with complex new animations, this shouldn't be too intensive. Plus, every character has a backside animation when walking around town.

I'll accept that buildings only face two directions, but I REALLY want my guys to be able to sit on benches around a fire or a fountain on all sides, facing each other.

EA, feel free to ignore this. That way you can feel good about taking at least ONE of my suggestions. ;)
  • More land and a 'zoom' feature would be nice. Being able to get larger amounts of the town on screen would make planning much easier. I'd also like to be able to store chunks of town as they are so that you can move things around and try new features without having to take every single fence and lamp and put them one by one into storage.
